Guidelines

Wiki pages can be created and edited by any member of the Rockhoppers Mountaineering Club. Please add any information that you think might be useful. Just click on the Edit page link. Also if you spot errors or if something is out of date, feel free to change it. You can even add pages or change the side-bar. We encourage everyone to get involved: the more people who contribute, the better the wiki will become.

Please follow these guidelines when editing:

  • Remember to fill in your name and a summary of your change on the edit form; this makes the page histories much more useful.
  • If writing complicated pages, try to use good style and comment to explain what you are doing and allow others to understand.
  • If you have something to add but really can't work out the formatting, then just put it on anyway and someone will probably come along later and tidy it up.
  • Co-ordinate your editing with other authors where possible. If someone else has written a report, then by all means add to it, but please don't delete what they have written.
  • Try to link to other relevant pages if they exist.
  • There is a comprehensive Documentation Index explaining how do most things.
  • If you just want to experiment, please use the Wiki Sandbox.
  • Try to keep photo sizes small. Any uploaded files consume our general web server space, which is limited.
  • Offensive, silly or destructive editing can easily be reversed, so there's really no point in it.
  • Report any problems to the webmaster.

Important

  1. With the exception of the Members Only group, the wiki is fully open and viewable by anyone; please consider this when creating/modifying pages or uploading files.
  2. No personal information (such as postal or email addresses, phone numbers or the dates when someone is going to be away from home etc.) is to be placed anywhere on the wiki.
  3. No surnames are allowed except (if absolutely necessary) in material within the Members Only group.
  4. If in doubt about the suitability of your contribution, contact the committee for advice before changing anything.
